My Movement My Freedom
Standing on top of a ledge that was once unreachable to me I take a deep breath. I clear my mind and take in everything around me. Without a doubt or second thought I jump out and off. As the solid security of the ledge beneath my feet becomes a memory, its replaced by a soft wind and an overwhelming feeling of freedom. In the air I feel no worry for Im not scared, Im free. Time and place mean nothing. Im here, my movement the only certainty. As the familiar feeling of solid ground returns I tuck my myself into a roll. As I come out of it my eyes are already fixed on my next goal, a wall down the field. Without braking my movement I vault the rails in my path entering a bit of creativity into each one. The wall is far behind me now, yet I keep moving. Each goal, each obstacle leading to another. After everyone returning to my feet to find this voice in the back of my mind saying again! keep going! and I do. I dont even know how much time has passed, it doesnt matter. Finally I slowly come to a stop. Out of breath and body all but out of energy, I sit down. Taking a sip of water from a bottle, I look around. There are no cameras filming, there are no people around me watching in awe, they would only slow my movement. My mind drifts, a million thoughts race by, things Ive said, places Ive been and people I know. I take another deep breath, my mind slowly clears. The endless thoughts begin to fade and my mind once again becomes focused. Regaining my breath and finishing the bottle of water I return to my feet and Im off. I dont know what my next obstacle will be and it doesnt matter. Its about the movement. This is Parkour. Its a discipline, a way of life, an art. Since finding Parkour Its become my passion, my movement and motivation. Movement is freedom, this is my freedom
